What is Wellness?

Are you looking for change in an area of your life, but not sure how to make it happen? Struggling with a difficult transition or situation? Each area of our life is deeply interconnected. The reverberation of change one area reverberates through others.

 Change is Possible.

Wellness is like a spiders' web, movement in one part of the web reverberates in throughout the web.

Wellness much more than just diet and exercise, wellness applies to the “whole person,” body, mind, and spirit. It is an ongoing process of becoming the  best you can be in many different ways. It is also about keeping a balance in different aspects of your life. Life is full of transitions and as we make these transitions our lives can become stuck or out of balance and we can use some help to regain our wellbeing. A wellness coach is a good way to make the changes you want

I encourage you to examine the different dimensions of wellness in your life. As you do so, you may begin recognize that they are deeply interconnected. No dimension stands alone. Each dimension is related to others in different ways and to different degrees. Live is about choices as we move along our journey. Wellness is about wholeness and balance as we move forward.

Factors in the Web of Wellness:

1.     Spiritual: core values, identity and purpose in your life that correspond to your personal values. Who are you at your best? What guides your choices?

2.     Psychological and Emotional: mental state, coping and problem-solving skills, stress management, decision making, keeping the balance in a hectic world can be a challenge. Are there road-blocks that keep coming up?

3.     Behavioral and Intellectual: thoughts and actions that have positive or negative effects on life. This is one of those circles that goes round and round, one influencing the other. Our thoughts lead to behavior and our behavior effect our thoughts.

4.     Physical:  Physical vitality, active lifestyle practices, structured exercise.

5.     Nutritional: Nutrition and food choices, affect our minds and our bodies.

6.     Medical:  Self care, medical and dental, screening, prevention care, attention to long term care.

7.     Occupational: interests, skills, performance, satisfaction, and environment.

8.     Social: family and social support and cohesion. Community in our lives. We all need a support system.

9.     Environmental: living conditions and physical surroundings.

10.   Financial: planning and saving, cash and credit management, risk management.

These are not listed in order of importance, and do not touch on every area by any means, but are meant as as jumping off point. The list is to call to mind areas that maybe working, or areas of discord in your life currently. Give some thought to how all these facets are connected in your life and what you would like to change or improve. Take an inventory. What is working for you? What needs attention? What area could use more care, or direction? Life transitions, moves, losses, health issues, so many life changes can affect our life balance and make recovery a challenge. That is when a coach can help. I am here to help work with you to find a way to a better life, to find out what is and is not working for you as a whole being.

I am here to help you make needed changes and thrive.
